HAUS SAY WHAT YOU SAY

Furthering their status as indie-rock’s next “it band”, HAUS follow up on riotous tracks ‘Gave You All’ and ‘Levels’ with a melodic new number ‘Say What You Say’. This one is certainly more pop than previous releases due to an intricate patterning of tropical beats, ‘80s synths, bright guitar notes and upbeat drums, but that doesn’t mean HAUS have lost their edge. Ashley Mulimba breaks into the indie-pop opening with a distinct determination - “Tell me who won, tell me who lost, who’s to blame?” The chorus is soaring, catchy and direct, by which we mean this young London band exercise a tuned-in maturity regarding the hypocrisy that appears in every aspect of life. Speaking about the track, the band explain that they “wanted to address the self-contradictory system we live in today. We live in a world built from thought, but it's almost frowned upon to think outside the box. We use words like 'war' as a mask to make murder acceptable, and to try and prove that killing is wrong. We ALL know the way we are living is unacceptable, but we fear to do anything about it.” Their advice? Go get your head straight, perhaps with more of HAUS’ bright alternative rock. - HT
